Dr. Rachel Lipsky Bohnen grew up in Great Neck, New York. She went to North Shore Hebrew Academy and Ramaz High School in New York City. For college, she went to the Joint Program between Columbia University and the Jewish Theological Seminary, where she majored in psychology, pre-dental studies, and Jewish law, respectively. Before starting dental school, Dr. Bohnen taught Religious School at Temple Israel of the City of New York for first and second grade students, and Congregation Habonim for kindergarten students.
Dr. Bohnen earned her dental degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, and received the Divisional Excellence in Community Health Award. She continued her training with a post-graduate residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Jacobi Medical Center, in the Bronx, New York. While in dental school and residency, Dr. Bohnen participated in several local and international dental outreach missions, including caring for the oral health of underserved children in Guatemala and Jamaica. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and Alpha Omega, and she is a candidate for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. In her free time, Dr. Bohnen enjoys spending time with her family and friends, watching movies, traveling, playing tennis, and reading.
